The Arrangements for NTBR 2009 is complete
All arrangements are complete for this year's water carnival to be held on 8th August 2009. 59 boats will compete in this year's water Olympics. 17 Chundans (boats) will participate in the boat race out of which 'Partha Sarathi' will be on exhibitory.

Inauguration
- Honorable Member of Parliament and UPA Chair Person Smt. Sonia Gandhi, will be the Chief Guest and will be inaugurating the 57th Nehru Trophy Boat Race.
- Honorable Cabinet Ministers Sh. A K Antony, Sh.Vayalar Ravi, Smt. Ambika Soni, Kum.Selja and Dr. M.S. Gill are expected to grace the occasion.
- Honorable Chief Minister Sh. V S Achuthanandan, Honorable Ministers Sh.Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Dr. Thomas Isaac, Sh. G Sudhakaran, Sh.M Vijayakumar , Honorable Members of Parliament Sh. K C Venugopal, Sh. Kodikkunnil Suresh, Honorable Members of Legislative Assembly Sh. A M Ariff, Sh. P Thilothaman, Sh. Thomas Chandy, Sh.M Babu Prasad, Sh. C K Sadasivan, Sh. M Murali, Sh. K K Shaju and eminent personalities are expected to grace the occasion.
- Classes were held for the Leading Captains and guidelines wereissued to the rowers. Construction of the Pandal and Pavilions is going on.

Cultural Events
Souvenir Committee conducted various competitions for the students on 1st August 2009 at Jawahar Bal Bhawan, Alappuzha. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Mini Antony IAS , the District Collector. Sh. S. Bhaskara Pillai, Chief Editor, Souvenir Committee presided over the function. Sh.Antony Dominic, Additional District Magistrate gave welcome speech and Sh. Jyothis rendered vote of thanks. The prizes to the winners would be distributed during the cultural meeting on 4th August ,2009 at Municipal Grounds, Alappuzha. The winners are :
