There will be traffic control in the town on 12th August 2017 from 9 Am onwards. Parking will not be permitted on the road sides from 6 AM. Vehicles would be removed using recovery vehicles , if found parked on the road sides and fine would be imposed.

• Ernakulam side have to come via Kommadi and park at SDV School Grounds.
• Changanasserry via Kaithavana have to park at Carmel/St.Antony School Grounds.

Video Surveillance systems had been installed for tracking the boats and oarsmen who violates the rules and guidelines of the boat race. Strict actions will be taken against the offenders. Persons who swim into the tracks and disturbs the boat races will be arrested and actions will be initiated against them. Raids will be conducted by the Shadow Police for preventing liquor consumption in and around the Race Course.
Police force of about 2000 in strength under the leadership of District Police Chief including 20 DySPs, 33 CIs,353 SIs and others will take care of the security in Punnamada and nearby places by dividing it into 14 sectors. The Police force will be deployed from 6 AM onwards.
Police force have been deployed in 40 boats in Punnamada backwaters for the security of the people. The whole town will be under CCTV camera surveillance.
Barricades will be arranged in the Northern side of the Dock Chira , for restricting the entry of other boats. Barricades will also be arranged in both the banks at Starting point. Shadow Police and Special branch Police will be deployed in and around Punnamada for preventing anti-social activities, pick pocketing and thefts.
Media journalists can apply for media awards instituted by NTBR society.News paper or visual media reports published in various News paper, TV Channels and magazines from July 10th to August 13th which are helpful in publicizing the 65th Nehru Trophy Boat Race are considered for the awards.
Media professionals involved in the four fields of news events such as print media reports, visual media reports, photographers and cameramen are eligible to apply. Award comprises of a Trophy, Cash prize of Rs.10001 and a certificate of merit. Mode of submitting the entries are given below.
• News Paper Reports – Original clipping of the news paper together with two copies.
• News Photograph – 3 copies of News Photo of size 10*8 together with one copy of news paper in which the news photo is printed.
• Visual Media Reports – Visuals from Malayalam news bulletins or magazines are to be submitted in CD/DVD format along with two copies. The duration of visual should not be more than 7 minutes. The number of entries from each channel is limited to a maximum number of 5 entries in each category. The title of the reports, content, Date, duration and description also to be submitted separating in writing along with the entries. The Story should not be divided into section; instead it should be shown as an integrated and complete news report. With each entry, names of the news paper/ TV channel, date /time, name of Journalist / Photographers/ Cameraman and address to be submitted in separate paper.
• One contestant can send maximum two entries in one category. Same entry cannot be sent for more than one category.
• Each entry should be sent in separate cover. The name of competition category should be mentioned on to the cover. The applicant should sign along with name on the CD/DVD.
• A certificate issued by the News Editor or any other authorized official is to be attached with the entries.

The work on Nehru Pavilion and temporary Galleries have been completed. The New starting systems and arrangements for displaying the time taken by each boat in the race by setting up modern digital devices. The entry of the small boats to the finals will also be decided on the basis of least time taken for finishing.More Bus and Boat services have been arranged for facilitating the people for watching the Boat Race.
An estimated budget of Rs.318,33,250/- and Rs. 222,97,700/- as income and expenses respectively have been passed by the Executive Committee. It is expected that the boat race can be conducted smoothly with the grant of Rs.One Crore from State Government, Ticket sales , support from banks, Public Sector undertakings and advertisements etc., even though Title Sponsors are not there.
District Collector Smt. Veena N.Madhavan flagged off a rally to announce the nearing of 65th Nehru Trophy Boat Race. This was arranged jointly by Information and Public Relations Department and Nehru Trophy Publicity Committee. It will tour through five districts show casing the winner’s Trophy with the signature of Jawaharlal Nehru imprinted on it. Shri. S. Muraleedharan Pillai , N.T.B.R Secretary and R.D.O , Shri. The District Collector Smt. Veena N. Madhavan has informed that , the preparations are done regarding the Boat Race in which the greatest number of boats are participating in the history of Boat Race . A total of 24 boats will participate including 20 Chundan Boats and 4 exhibition boats. 5 Iruttukuthy A-Grade boats , 25 Iruttukuthy B-Grade boats, 9 Veppu A Grade Boats , 6 Veppu B Grade Boats, 3 Churulan Boats , Thekkanody Thara,Kettu (3each) will be participating in the race. Alappuzha town had been turned into a spectacular colour palette by the Studenrs with dazzling decorative umbrellas and baloons. The pageantry was organized as a proclamation of the forthcoming Nehru Trophy Boat Race. The procesion was flagged off by the District Collector Smt. Veena N Madhavan from EMS Stadium. The District Police Chief Sh. S Surendran, Municipal Chairman Sh. Thomas Joseph, Municipal Vice Chairperson Smt.Beena Kochubava, Municipal Councillors and other eminent persons participated.
'Panchavadyam' , 'Chendamelam' , 'Kathakali', 'Theyyam' etc. had added colours to the rally. A group of Students carried placards with slogan ' laharikkethire thuzha eriyam' against substance abuse. Students from Educaional Institutions including B.Ed. Colleges and Teachers Training Institutes, Scouts&Guides, NCC and SPC cadets actively participated in the rally.
The District Police Chief S.Surendran, turned as a photographer during the inaugural function of the photo exhibition, 'Kazhcha', organized by Nehru Trophy Publicity Committee in association with the Alappuzha Press club, at the open air auditorium in the Town Square. The Nehru Trophy Boat Race celebrations got boosted up with the enthralling Vanchipattu (Boat Song) Competition. The District Panchayat President Sh.G Venugopal hoisted the flag and inaugurated the competition. The Chief Coordinator, former MLA Sh.C K Sadasivan presided over the function. Former MLA Sh.A A Shukkur, Irrigation Executive Engineer Smt. R Rekha, Sh.C K Vijayan, Sh.S M Iqbal, Sh.Jose Kavanad, Sh.Thankachan Pattathil, Sh.Sunny,MV Sh.Halthaf and others participated in the function.
The competition was started with the Vanchipattu by 10 employees of the Department of Irrigation, led by Sh. P S Santhosh Kumar, applauding the achievements of Alappuzha, celebrating Diamond Jubilee. The song was composed by Sh.P J Vijayan, Vanchipattu Team Secretary. 39 teams participated in various categories of the competitions.

Training program was organized for the employees posted for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. The District Collector Smt.Veena N. Madhavan inaugurated the programme at Collectortae Conference Hall. On the day of the race, August 12th, the officials will be present at 7:00 AM. The training was given on the procedures including checking passes. ADM Sh. M K Kabir presided over the function. RDO S. Muralidharan Pillai had given necessary instructions to the officials assigned for variousduties.
Boats without passes will not be permitted. Houseboats and other motorised vessels can be parked at the Northern side of the Nehru Pavillion for watching the boat race by paying Parking Fees.

Police system has been installed to check the boats. Steps will be taken including the cancellation of licenses against boats without passes.
The Seminar on ' Malayalam Literature Today' was held at St Joseph's College for Women Alappuzha as part of Nehru Trophy Boat Race and was inaugurated by famous lyricist Sh.Rajeev Alunkal. The seminar was organized by the Souvenir Committee.
During the inaugural speech, he said that Alappuzha is the land of authors who love literature and language innocently. The majority of the authors who had proved that formal education is not required for loving the language, hail from Alappuzha. He had also said that the literary works from the new generation should evolve after recognizing themselves with the soil and life. The seminar was presided over by the District Collector Smt.Veena N. Madhavan. Poet Sh.Vinod Vaisakhan delivered the keynote address. Training will be given to employees who have been assigned duty for NTBR. The training will be held at Collectrate Conference Hall today at 3.30 PM. The Collector have informed that all the officials should reach in time.

The Malayalam Literary Seminar will be conducted by Souvenir Committee as part of NTBR-2017 at St. Joseph's Womens College Auditorium, Alappuzha at 10:00 AM today(August 8). Film song writer Sh.Rafeeq Ahamed will inaugurate the Seminar which would be presided over by the District Collector Smt.Veena.N.Madhavan. Poet Sh.Vinod Vaisakhi will deliver the keynote address. RDO & Secretary, NTNRS had informed that the Boat clubs would be disqualified, if the total number of Oarsmen in Chundan Boats who are native of other states or working in other states, exceeds 25% of the total no. of oarsemen.

The distribution of identity cards to Oarsemen was inaugurated by the Secretary, NTBRS & RDO, Sh. S Muraleedharan Pillai in a function held at UBC Kainakari camp, Kuttamangalam. The function was presided over by the Former MLA and Nehru Trophy Chief Coordinator Sh. CK Sadasivan . Former MLA and Chief Starter Sh.KK Shaju, Chief Umpire Sh.KM Ashraf, Irrigation Executive Engineer Smt.R Rekha, NTBR Executive Committee members, Sh.KA Pramod and Sh.Jose Kavanad participated . The ID cards were distributed to 118 oarsemen. Identity card preparation is in progress and distribution will be completed soon.
Sh.Shijaas, a student from Rajagiri College, Ernakulam won the first prize the gold coin by portraying the festival of boats on his face. The competition was organized by the Publicity Committee, NTBR-2017. Shijaas grabbed the first place by depicting "Chundan vallam", "Muthukkuda" and all other festivities on his face.
Sh.Cinton Fernandes of St. Peters College, Kananamchira, got the second prize for painting a fluttering butterfly on his face and Sh.Sahid Siyad of KVM College, Cherthala won the third prize. The Souvenir Committee had conducted Literary competitions for the Higher Secondary and College students as part of NTBR2017. The District Collector Smt.Veena.N.Madhavan inaugurated the competitions in a function presided over by the ADM, Sh.M K Kabir at Collectrate Conference Hall on August 5. The Secretary, Thakazhi Memorial, Sh. KB, Ajayakumar, Film song Composer Sh. D.B. Ajith Kumar, Chief Editor , NTBR-2017 Souvenir Sh. M R. Prem, Sh.P.Jyothis, Sh.S Bhaskara Pillai ,Zubair and others were present. Hundreds of students participated in the competitions.The topics for poem writing was "Snehathinte Baakkipatram" for Higher Secondary category and "Bhayam" for College category. For story writing the topics "Puzha Paranjathu" (Higher Secondary), "Thirakkinidayil ente ekandatha" (College) and for essay writing-"Kayika Keralam-Pratheekshayum Prathisandhiyum" (Higher Secondary), "Sthreeyum Samuhavum" (College) were the topics respectively. Morning Star English Medium School had won the award for maximum participation of students in the competitions conducted by the NTBR Publicity Committee as part of Nehru Trophy Boat Race. 152 students participated in the coloring and painting competitions from the school. Alappuzha Carmel Academy HSS was placed second with 103 participants and Leo Thirteenth HSS in third place with 74 students.

In the facing painting competition organized by publicity committee in relation to 65th Nehru Trophy Boat race and literary competitions by Souvenir Committee will be held today (Saturday, August 5th). Competitions are for Higher Secondary and College students. Malayalam story writing, poem writing, essay writing competitions will be held at Collectrate Conference hall at 9:30 AM. One student can participate in only one item each. Interested participants may register their names at Collectorate Conference Hall at 9:30 AM.
Face competitions will be held at Vijay Park, Alappuzha Beach. The competition will be held under Men and Women category. The required colors and brushes should be brought by the participants. The first prize winner will be awarded with gold coin, sponsored by Samsam Jewellery.
District Collector Smt. Veena N. Madhavan called an official level meeting to evaluate the preparation of conducting the NTBR. Irrigation Executive Engineer R.Rekha also Convener, Infrastructure Committee informed that the work of deepening the tracks is progressing very fast. The maintenance work of Nehru Pavilion had already been completed. Construction work of other Pavilion is in the last stage. Shri. M. E shajahan, D.Y.S.P informed that entries will be restricted to Nehru Pavilion where VVIPs are watching the race and more police force will be deployed there. Smt. Usha Kumari, Asst. Executive Engineer, PWD informed that the maintenance work of roads leading to Punnamada has already started and re-tarring work will begin soon. Asst. Divisional officer Shri. M. S. Suvi informed that the services of Fire Rescue personnel working in the four districts and also divers will be made available for the Boat Race. District Collector directed food society officials to undertake strict inspection of Hotel establishments in the town for assuring safe food for visitors. Hygiene in food preparation areas and quality of food are to be ensured. They should also ensure that the establishments are leaving only reasonable price from customers, collector added. In the meeting , District Collector instructed to study the feasibility of installing GPS system in service boats hired for the purpose of conducting the race. District Collector had also instructed D.M.O to ensure the services of medical team for medical assistance. Souvenir Committee Convener and A.D.M Shri. M.K. The distribution of identity cards to Oarsemen was inaugurated by the Secretary, NTBRS & RDO, Sh. S Muraleedharan Pillai in a function held at UBC Kainakari camp, Kuttamangalam today(Saturday, August 5th) at 3PM. The function was presided over by the Former MLA and Nehru Trophy Chief Coordinator Sri. CK Sadasivan . Former MLA and Chief Starter Sri.KK Shaju, Chief Umpire Sri.KM Ashraf, Irrigation Executive Engineer Smt.R Rekha, NTBR Executive Committee members, Sri.KA Pramod and Sri.Jose Kavanad participated . The ID cards were distributed to 118 oarsemen. Identity card preparation is in progress and distribution will be completed soon.
Website of NTBR was redesigned and made more attractive. District collector Smt. Veena N.Madhavan launched the website. This year, till date, 6, 39,772 persons visited the site from different parts of the world. It is fascinating that among the various countries, USA outnumbered India in the number of visitors to the site. In July, 2,42,813 persons browsed the site while in August 73,329 persons browsed in four days alone. The website is administered by National Informatics center and pages are available in Malayalam, Hindi and English languages. All details connected with NTBR, photos, videos, news and audios are included in this site to merge with the digital world. The link for online booking of Boat Race Tickets is also given. The website also implemented screen reader access technology to enable visually impaired person to access the website and get an output via a text to speech. NTBR mobile application was also developed for mobile users and can be downloaded. 1655 persons had downloaded the app till date. Website address : www.nehrutrophy.nic.in.
Identity cards for the Oarsmen will be issued from 08/08/2017 onwards at the O/o the Executive Engineer, Irrigation. The oarsmen who had collected the application form should submit their identity cards and two passport size photos before 12 Noon. The boats not submitting the documents will not be permitted to participate in the races.

1027 students participated in the Colouring competition held by the Publicity Committee as part of the NTBR-2017. The competitions were inaugurated by the District Collector & Chairman NTBRS by drawing a picture of a boat, in a function held at Leo XIII HSS, Alappuzha.
Convener, Publicity Committee & District Information Officer Sh.Chandrahasan Vaduthala presided over the inaugural function in which Secreatary NTBRS & RDO Alappuzha Sh.Muraleedharan Pillai and conveners of other sub committees, Municipal Chaiman Sh.Thomas Joseph, ADM Sh. M K Kabeer, Publicity Committee Members Sh.Harikumar Valeth, Sh.K Nazar, Sh.Abdul Salam Labba and Sh.Rameshan Chemmaprambil attended. Painting competitions had been conducted for the children from Nursery and LP Schools.
The first round of competitions for small boats will start at 11 AM on 12th August . The final will start after the Heats of Chundan boats.

The Vanchipattu (Boat Song) Competitions as part of NTBR will be conducted on August 8th from 8:00 AM onwards at K K Pankajakshan Nagar in Alappuzha Town Square. The District Collector, Smt. Veena N Madhavan IAS had inaugurated this year's Captains' Clinic in a function presided over by Sh. C.K Sadashivan, Ex MLA, at Y.M.C.A hall. The collector during her inaugural speech requested everyone including the Captains to cooperate with the Organizing Committee by strictly following the time schedule. Chief starter Ex.MLA Sh. K.K.Shaju, Secretary NTBRS & RDO Alappuzha Sh.Muralidharan Pillai and Convener, Infrastructure Committee & Executive Engineer, Irrigation Division,Smt.R Rekha attended the function.
Stringent actions will be initiated against the undisciplined oarsmen and boat clubs participating in the boat race. They will not be eligible for the Bonus, if they haven't practiced for atleast 7 days. The Chief starter has the power to disqualify the boats if the oarsmen are not in proper uniform and without wearing the identity card .
Actions will be taken if the total number of oarsemen who belongs to other states and working in other states exceeds 25 percentage. Changing track, creating obstruction to the competition etc. will attract disqualification.
After the heats, the boats are required to be taken to the outerside of the race course. 50% bonus will be deducted if the boats are found to be on the western side of the tracks or in front of the VIP Pavilion or in front of the Island Pavilion in the eastern side of the track. Actions will be taken against the small boats conducting trials at the time of procession and mass drill .
The water procession ('Jalaghoshayathra') as part of NTBR-2017 will start sharp at 2 PM. The boats assembled at 'Kayal Kurissadi' at 1 PM will move by singing boat song ('Vanchippattu') to the finishing point after getting the direction from the Pilot of the procession. The competitions will start after the mass drill.
The painting competitions organized by Nehru Trophy Publicity Committee as part of NTBR will be held today(August 3) at 9:30 AM at Leo XIIIth School Auditorium, Alappuzha. The program will be inaugurated by the District Collector Smt.Veena.N.Madhavan by sketching an image. The different Sub Committee Conveners including Municipal Chairman Sh.Thomas Joseph, ADM Sh.M K.Kabir, RDO Sh.S. Muralidharan Pillai, District Information Officer Sh.Chandrahasan Vaduthala, Irrigation Executive Engineer Smt.R.Rekha and District Informatics Officer Smt.P.Parvathi Devi will attend the function.
The coloring competitions will be held for Nursery-L.P. School students and the painting competitions for U.P.-High School students .The students can use Color pencil , Crayon, Oil pastals,Water Color or Poster color. Certificates and Trophies will be awarded to First, Second and Third Prize Winners in all categories.
The Nursery-L.P. School students in the district can participate in the coloring competitions .The sketch for coloring competition will be provided by the organizers. All other required materials have to be brought by the participants. The time duration is 1 hour.
The U.P-High School students can participate in the painting competition. Paper for the competition will be provided by the organizers. Students should bring all other requisite materials.Time duration for the painting competition is 2 hours. Trophies will be awarded to three schools with maximum participation. The students are required to bring identity proof/identity card issued by the School authorities for collecting the prize.
In the Nehru Trophy Boat Race series, this year’s fair holds the record for having the most number of boats competing in the race. Up until now 78 boats have registered to participate in the competition.It is for the first time in history that the numbers have hit such a high note.
As the preparations for the race are nearing completion, the installation of modern starting system will be completed by August 5th , Saturday. The trial run of the system will be held by the Infrasturture Committee headed by the Executive Engineer, Irrigation , Smt. R.Rekha on 7th . The new system will ensure a more accurate starting . The boats can move forward when the starting device shutters open simultaneously after three alerts from the Starter.. The teams will be disqualified , if they move forward before the Starter gives the signal. Arrangements are also being made for assessing the accuracy of starting live.

65th Nehru Trophy Boat Race's Captain's meeting to be conducted today(August 2,Wednesday) at 10 AM in the YMCA hall. The terms and conditions of this year's boat race will be given at the meeting. Teams would be met with. The District Collector Smt.Veena.N.Madhavan has informed that it is mandatory for the captains and leading captains of all the registered boats to be present at the meeting.
The officials for the 65th Nehru Trophy Boat Race have been decided. Former MLA Sh. C.K.Sadasivan is the Chief Coordinator . Former MLA Sh.K.K.Shaju is the Chief Starter and Sh. K.M.Ashraf is the Chief Track Umpire. Sh.S.M.Ekbal is the Observer. Sh. P.I. Abraham (Procession Pilot),Sh. R.K. Kurup (Chief Master of Ceremony), Sh.Josekutty Jose (Chief Stage Coordinator), Sh. S. Gopalakrishnan (Chief Mass Drill Conductor), Sh. Thankachan Paattathil (Chief Judge, Mass drill) and Sh.P.D. Joseph (Chief Timer) are the Chief Officials.
TheConvener, Infrastructure Committee & Executive Engineer ,Irrigation , had informed that officials have been assigned for various duties for the smooth conduct of the race.
The Executive Engineer Irrigation had given directions that the house boats and other vessels should not be parked in the area from Starting point to Finishing point, as the work for deepening the tracks and installing the track posts are going on. All the vessels including house boats should be parked elsewhere.
District Collector Smt. Veena N. Madhavan inaugurated the draw of lots for allotting track and heats of teams competing in the 65th NTBR. The function was held at the conference hall of the Collectorate. Subsequently the track and heats were allotted to all teams for the preliminary rounds and finals. Sri.Muralidharan Pillai(R.D.O) ,Sri. K.K Shaju (Former MLA), Smt.R.Rekha (Irrigation Department, Executive Engineer),Sri.K.V Murali, Sri.K.V Iqbaal, boat captains and authorities of boat clubs were present at the two function. -Face painting competitions for students on 5th August; Grand prize, gold coin
Transform your face into a canvas, blend in the beauty and the splendor of the celebrations and you will have a chance to win the gold coin. Nehru Trophy Publicity Committee is organizing the face painting competition for Plus Two and College students. The competition will be held at 4:00pm on August 5th at Vijay park at Alappuzha beach. Paintings can be done only on face and neck, with or without assistance. The participants will be disqualified, if painting is done elsewhere on the body.
The literary competitions by Souvenir committee, NTBR-2017 will be held on August 5th, 10 AM at Collectorate Conference Hall. There will be Malayalam story writing, Poetry and Essay writing competitions for Higher secondary and College students. Each contestant can compete in only one item. Winning articles will be published in the souvenir in addition to cash awards. The publicity committee, Nehru Trophy Boat Race will conduct Painting Competitions for Nursery and School students. The competition will be held at Alappuzha Leo XIIIth School Auditorium at 9.30 AM on August 3rd . The coloring competition is for Nursery and L.P students and the painting competition is for U.P and High School students. Students can use Pencil / Crayon / Oil Pastals / Watercolor / Poster Color. The First, Second and Third prize winners in all categories will be awarded Certificates and Trophies. The Nursery and L.P students in the district can participate in the paintingcompetition. The organizers will provide the sketch for coloring. The competitors should bring all other materials required. The duration will be 1 hr.
The U.P and High school students can participate in Painting Competition. The organizers will provide paper for drawing. The participants should bring all the other materials required. The duration of the competition will be 2 hrs. Trophies will be given to 3 schools for maximum participation. The students should submit proof/identity card in order to receive the prizes. Kunchan, Konchunni, Konchus, Konchootty, Konchoottan, Kunchiyamma, Konchathi, Konchan, Kunchukkuttan, Kuttan, Kinnani, Kuyilal, Konchuncle, Kovaalan, Konchazhakan, Kaatha, Kalivanchiyile Kunchan – 220 out of 270 names suggested by the students started with ‘K’, as the Mascot is ‘Kuttanadan Konchu’. 40 entries suggested Kunchu/Kunchan. Students also suggested Dinkan, Nunayan Kunchu, Micky, Jhansi Rani, Doli mon, Dolarukuttan, Ikru, Karuthamma, Kuberan etc. Students from Kollam, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta have also participated in the competition. Some had suggested 40 names in single entry.
‘Kuttapri’, the name given by Master Navan S. Raj, a VI std student of Cherukunnom S.N Central School has been selected as the name for the Mascot of the 65th NehruTrophy Boat Race, the ‘Kuttanadan Prawn rowing coconut palm boat (‘olathoni’)’ in the competition conducted for students by the NehruTrophy Publicity Committee. The Judging Committee comprising Sh. P. Ravikumar, Deputy Director PRD(Retd.), Sh. Harikumar Valeth, Sh. V.S.Umesh, Press Club President has selected the name from 270 entries. The Judging panel opined that the name has a Kuttanadan touch. Master Navan’s parents are Smt.C. Sanisha and Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Himadri, Erezha Thekku Chettikkulangara.
The winner will be awarded a Gold Coin sponsored by Noor Jewellery, Mullackal.
Boat song Competitions will be held in connection with the 65th NehruTrophy Boat Race on August 8th at Municipal Square, opposite Boat Jetty. Those who are interested should register their names at Irrigation Division Office, Alappuzha before August 5th for participating.

Deepening work of the tracks for the 65th Nehru Trophy Boat Race started. Convener, Infrastructure Committee & Executive Engineer, Irrigation informed that the drudging work will be completed by Saturday. The Asst. Executive Engineer, Alappuzha Irrigation Subdivision will be supervising the work.
Captains' meeting as part of the 65th NehruTrophy Boat Race will be held on August 2nd 10.00AM at YMCA Hall, Alappuzha. The Terms & Conditions on the boat race will be introduced to the Captains and Leading Captains of registered boats in the meeting. Convener, Infrastructure Committee & Executive Engineer, Irrigation had requested all Captains and Leading Captains of the registered boats to participate.
Lot for Track and Heats for 65th NTBR will be held on 29th July 2017 ,2:00 PM at Collectorate Conference Hall. The Secretary NTBRS & RDO Alappuzha Sh. Muraleedharan Pillai had informed that all Captains of the registered boats should attend.

‘It was the grand event which I have ever been part of ’, said Mr.Vinayakan, the State Award Winner, during the release of the Mascot for NTBR 2017, in a function organized by the Publicity Committee.
‘Kuttanadan Prawn rowing coconut palm boat(Olathoni)’ by Sh. V.R Reghunath , Abhiramam, Pathirappally, had been selected as the Mascot for the 65th NehruTrophy Boat Race from 63 entries received in the competition held by the Publicity Committee. Sh. V.R Reghunath was the drawing teacher in Govt. H.S, Vechur. His entries had been selected as the Mascots for NTBR twice before.
Construction of Pandal for the 65th NehruTrophy Boat Race had been started. The District Collector & The Chairman NTBRS, Smt Veena N Madhavan had erected the pillar for the Pandal in a function held at Punnamada Finishing Point. The RDO & Secretary NTBRS Sh.Muraleedharan Pillai, Municipal Chairman & Convener, Cultural Committee, Sh. Thomas Joseph, Convener, Infrastructure Committee Smt. R.
