68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race will inaugurate Hon. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan . After paying floral tributes to the Nehru statue, he will unfurl the flag. Hon. Tourism Public Works Minister P.A. Muhammad Riaz, Hon. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, Hon. Revenue Minister K. Rajan, Hon. Agriculture Minister P. Prasad, Hon. Roshi Augustine, Minister of Water Resources and District Hon. MPs, MLAs etc. will also participate.



1.Punnamada and surrounding areas have been divided into 15 sectors for security duty and traffic arrangements. More than 2,000 police personnel including 20 DYSPs, 50 inspectors and 465 SIs will be deployed under Alappuzha District Police Chief G. Jaidev IPS.

2.As on land, 50 police officers will be deployed in Punnamada lake in 50 boats for the safety of the people.

3.As a part of security Punnamada has been completely under CCTV camera surveillance.

4.Vehicular traffic will be restricted in Alappuzha city from 9 am on 04.09.2022 in connection with the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Parking will not be allowed on roadsides from the north side of General Hospital Junction to Kaichundi Junction and Kommadi Junction in Alappuzha city from 6 am on that day. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed by a recovery vehicle and the owner will be fined

5.On 04.09.2022 from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm no vehicular traffic will be allowed from District Court North Junction to Thathampally Kayal Kurishadi Junction East. Also the section from YMCA South Junction to East Fire Force Office will not allow vehicular traffic except for KSRTC.

6.To watch the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, vehicles coming from Alappuzha Thanneermukkam Road from the north should park at SDV School ground, and vehicles coming from Ernakulam via National Highway should park at SDV School ground via Kommadi and Savakottapalam north junction.Also, vehicles coming from Changanassery side and Kaithavana side should park at Carmel and St. Antony's school grounds.

7.A passenger boat has been arranged by the Water Transport Department for those going back from Nehru Pavilion after the boating and people should avoid crowding to avoid accidents.

8.Police personnel will be deployed to control traffic and parking from the day before the boat race.

9.Legal action will be taken against those who operate drones without the permission of the authorities during the competition.



Due to track construction in connection with the conduct of the Nehru Trophy Jal Mela, from tomorrow (September 2) to 4, water vehicles have been restricted in the area from Punnamada starting point to the finishing point. The Alappuzha Port Officer also informed that the parking of water vehicles on both sides of the canal has been banned from the district court bridge to the finishing point from 6 am on September 4.



Arun Joseph from Punnapra bagged the first position in the video competition conducted by the Nehru Trophy Boat Race Publicity Committee.



The game "Row Your Chundan" introduced to promote the Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be brought to schools in the district in the coming days. While rowing in a boat-shaped seat, the number of times you row is displayed on the front screen. The count is counted by a sensor attached to the paddle. The fastest rower in one minute wins a prize.Game developed and Designed by Techgentsia Software Technologies Infopark Cherthala.



The Boat Song competition ahead of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be held on August 31 at the Alappuzha Municipal square.

Consider entries that are mailed in a stamped envelope. The name, name, address and phone number of the entry sender should be written on white paper of A4 size, and the name of the chundan who will finish first in the chundan boat final and win the Nehru Trophy. Those received by post card will not be considered.
One can only predict the name of a boat. Entries from senders with multiple names will be disqualified.

Lyricist Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma inaugurated the literary seminar organized at St. Joseph's College under the auspices of the Commemorative Committee in connection with the Nehru Trophy Boat Race.


Nehru Trophy Boat Race theme song Released by V.R. Krishna Teja District Collector. This year's theme song is Arpo Irro composed by Sunil Alleppy. Ratheesh Tulasidharan's lyrics are sung by Asim Salim, Krishnalal, Mahindranath and Sunil Alleppy. Sub-Collector Suraj Shaji and Sunil Alleppey participated in the function held at the District Collector's Chamber.



The tracks and heats of the 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race were decided by draw. Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society Chairman District Collector V. R. Krishna Teja inaugurated. There are 20 snake boats for the competition this time. Although 22 boats were registered, Champakulam-2 and Naduvileparampan were withdrawn.The four boats with the best times in the heats will compete in the finals.

District Collector VR Krishna Teja inaugurated the Captain's Clinic at YMCA Hall ahead of the 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race to be held at Punnamadakayal on September 4.



Allan T Binoy, a student of Thuravur TDTTI, won the first position in the commentary competition conducted by the publicity committee for the college students in connection with the Nehru Trophy boat race.Agna Rose of St. Joseph's Women's College, Alappuzha has bagged the second position. In the competition held at St. Joseph's College, Prof. Cherian Alexander, Harikumar Valeth, R. Devanarayanan were the judges. The first place winner will be awarded a gold coin sponsored by Alina Jewellery.



Mittu is the name of the parrot rowing the banana boat that was chosen as the mascot of the 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race.42 people suggested the name Mittu. Avani Anil, a native of Ambalapuzha Ameda, was declared the winner by drawing lots from them. Avni is an Assistant Manager in Indian Overseas Bank. The winner will be awarded a gold coin by Mullakkal Noor Jewellery, Alappuzha.



A state-level commentary competition for college students will be held on August 27 as part of the campaign activities of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. The live Malayalam commentary of the Snake boat competition which will be displayed at the competition venue is to be presented.The competition will be in the same category for both boys and girls. As part of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, literary writing competitions organized by the Commemorative Committee will be held on August 27 at 10 am at UIT. It will be held at the Seminar Hall (Government Muhammadans School Courtyard, Alappuzha).Collector V.R. Krishna Teja will inaugurate the program. The competition is for students of college, higher secondary and high school category in Malayalam story, poem and essay. The name can be registered till the morning of the competition day. Nehru Trophy 2022 Exclusive Range of Merchandise has been released for sale.Products such as coffee Mugs, Hats, T-shirts, Snake boat designs, priced from Rs 120 to Rs 600 have been prepared. In the initial days, sales are concentrated in the Revenue Divisional Office. These will also be available at Vijay Park in the coming days.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race publicity committee will conduct Painting Competitions for Nursery and School students. The competition will be held at Alappuzha Leo XIIIth School Auditorium at 10.30 AM on August 20th . The coloring competition is for Nursery and L.P students and the painting competition is for U.P and High School students. Students can use Pencil / Crayon / Oil Pastals / Watercolour / Poster Colour. The First, Second and Third prize winners in all categories will be awarded Certificates and Trophies. The Nursery and L.P students in the district can participate in the painting competition. The organizers will provide the sketch for colouring. The competitors should bring all other materials required. The duration will be 1 hr.


The U.P and High school students can participate in Painting Competition. The organizers will provide paper for drawing. The participants should bring all the other materials required. The duration of the competition will be 2 hrs.

The Pillar for the Pandal will be erected by the District Collector V.R Krishna Teja IAS in a ceremony, at the Punnamada Finishing point (18 August).
